In the Works – January WIP’s

If you know me, you would not be surprised to find that I’m usually working on more than one piece of art at a time.  Why?  Well, perhaps it’s my ADD brain, but I find working on more than one piece quite helpful.   As I work on each piece there will come a moment of frustration when something doesn’t look right to me.  Rather than walk away and do something else, I’d rather put it aside and work on another piece.  I feel it keeps me more productive and gives me a break from one while I work on another. Currently I’m working on several different pieces and mediums. Here’s my current WIP’s (works in progress).

WIP – Female Leopard – Graphite, 8 x 10 inches.
This lovely lady is a beautiful leopard.  I was graciously allowed permission from the photographer to draw her.  I’ve only just begun and I’m excited to see how this turns out. This is my latest graphite piece I started a few days ago.  It will be titled, “Target Acquired.”  It’s a Red Tailed Hawk which will be added to my Nebraska Wildlife portfolio and in my store for prints once it is completed.

Colored Pencil & Mixed Media

WIP Blue Jay in colored pencil, 8 x 10 inches.
My third colored pencil painting in the works.  Giving a Blue Jay a try (so I could test out my blue pencils.)
WIP Tufted Titmouse, Mixed Media, 8 x 10 inches.
This is a mixed media piece. I’ve been experimenting with combining watercolor and colored pencil.  Not too excited about the watercolor background so this one my have another “re-do” in the near future.  I’ll keep fussing around until I get it the way I want it.   There you have it!  Keeping myself busy and starting off the new year with several projects!   Until next time, Keep Creating!
