Kelly Cathleen Dunn – Lengyel
Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska; in my adult life I have lived all across the state as well as ten years in Yankton, South Dakota. Despite my traveling, as they say, “There’s no place like home,” so I returned to my Omaha roots in the year 2006. I am an Evangelical Christian, wife, mommy and artist.
I’ve been drawing since I was old enough to hold a crayon in my hand. For me, drawing, sketching, creating is like breathing. My mother had a talent for drawing and in my early years encouraged me in developing my art. Her sister, my Aunt Jenny, was an amazing artist in Arizona. Her artwork inspired me to continue to improve my own rough talent.
In the year 2000, I discovered the internet, along with this new medium of digital graphics. I fell in love with being able to create a new type of artwork with various programs such as PhotoImpact, PaintShop Pro and creating fractals. Along with my digital work, I became a self-taught website designer learning both HTML and CSS. A result of this love was creating my own business, Breaching Fin Graphics, website design. I created both custom graphics and designed websites for over 10 years.
In March of 2016 I finally gave in to the prodding of my friend Theresa. I put down my mouse and once again picked up my sketchbook and graphite pencils and haven’t looked back since! My love of creating tangible artwork was awakened!
Deciding what to draw came easily. Since childhood I’ve been inspired by wildlife. What better fit would there be than to draw not only the wildlife I love, but wildlife that represents my home state of Nebraska!
After completing my first few drawings another dear friend, Melinda, encouraged me to share my artwork publicly, which leads me here. I feel very blessed and honored sharing my both the works of my hands and my love for wildlife with all of you.
